UM Lohia Two Wheelers Limited has launched the Duty S and Duty Ace in the Indian market with prices starting at Rs 1.10 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The bikes are built on the same platform, and share the same 223cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 16.8bhp and 17Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a five-speed gearbox and final chain drive. However, the Duty S and Duty Ace have different characteristics. The Duty S offers a slightly upright riding position. The seat is curved to act like a bum-stopper. The Duty Ace on the other hand sports a café racer style, thanks to its low-slung handlebars and chrome finished bar-end mirrors.
They ride on 41mm telescopic forks upfront and twin shocks at the rear. Braking duties are done by a 280mm front disc and a 130mm drum at the rear. While the bikes are not equipped with ABS currently, the manufacturer says that the ABS version will follow soon. The bikes’ instrument console is an analogue unit with a small digital display for the odometer. They also get fork-mounted LED lights similar to the one found on the Renegade Sport S.
The UM Duty and Duty Ace will compete against the Bajaj Avenger Street 220, and Suzuki Intruder 150 in the Indian market.
