UM has just launched the fuel-injected versions of the Commando and the Renegade Sports S. The Renegade Commando EFI has been priced at Rs 1.73 lakh(ex-showroom Delhi), whereas the Sports S retails at Rs 1.68 lakh(ex-showroom Delhi).
The company says that the engines of the Renegade Commando EFI and the Renegade Sports S have been retuned for better cold starts along with cleaner emissions. Due to the inclusion of EFI, the throttle response has improved in its accuracy. The company also claims that the updated bikes produce more power than the carburetted versions. Their website, however, continues to display the older power figures of 24.8bhp at 8500rpm and peak torque of 21.8Nm at 7000rpm. We tried getting in touch with UM, but they haven´t provided us the updated figures yet.
There has been a growing interest in the UM bikes, which are now looked upon as a Royal Enfield alternative. While the sales of UM bikes doesn’t come close to that of the Chennai-based manufacturer, its growth has definitely been bullish and it is currently on the dealership expansion spree.
