UM is readying a new 230cc motor that will power its upcoming bike. This yet-to-be named bike will be unveiled at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo.
The new 230cc single - cylinder engine will be air-cooled and has been specifically developed to bring the pricing of UM bikes to the lower side. This engine will churn around 19bhp and will power a new cruiser that will share most of the cycle parts with the current Renegade Range. However, there will a be few styling changes and additions that will make this bike look different from the rest.
With a good number of sales outlets in place across the country, UM is now trying to get more volumes with this 230cc cruiser. Currently, UM’s most affordable bike is the Renegade Sport S which is priced at Rs 1.60 lakh. This bike gets 280cc liquid-cooled motor which produces 25bhp and 23Nm of peak torque. With this new bike, the company is planning to undercut Royal Enfield’s highest selling model, the Classic 350 by a decent margin.
