UM Motorcycles launched three bikes at the 2016 Auto Expo. In fact, the company received quite a few bookings at the Expo and also at the 2016 India Bike Week.
Currently, the company is in the process of setting up dealerships, but hasn’t confirmed the exact number. However, if an image from UM’s social media page is to be believed, around 25 dealerships will start its operations within the next few weeks. UM Motorcycles will commence deliveries from mid-May in metro cities, followed by deliveries in smaller cities in June.
Interestingly, other than tier 2 cities like Madurai, Vijaywada and Surat, the company will open showrooms in cities like Aizwal and Imphal, which is a pretty bold move. Maharahstra gets the highest number of six dealerships at Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Kolhapur, Pune and Aurangabad.
UM has opened bookings for the Renegade Commando, Renegade Sport S and the Renegade Classic, all have been priced between Rs 1.40 lakh and Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It’ll be interesting to see how a brand like UM which is very new to India will perform in the country, considering the fact that Royal Enfield has a very huge fan following.
