What is it?
This is UM’s most expensive motorcycle in India – the Renegade Classic. Priced at Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), this bike falls in the Royal Enfield territory.
The reason this bike is most expensive of the lot, it’s because of the chrome usage. In terms of overall design, the Renegade Classic checks all the right boxes. It gets a nice cruising riding position thanks to forward-set footpegs, wide handlebar and comfortable seats. The pillion gets a backrest, which is a boon during long distance ride.
The Renegade Classic is powered by a 279cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine. This engine produces 25bhp at 8500rpm and peak torque of 21.8Nm at 7000rpm. This mill is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive.
India relevance?
UM has worked for almost two years to get the right product to India. And yes, this engine has been developed keeping in the Indian market in mind. When it comes to competition, the Renegade Classic has the Classic 350, which is the highest selling motorcycle for Royal Enfield.
Launch plans?
Currently, the company is in the process of setting up dealerships and plans to have 50 showrooms by the end of this year. The bookings for the bike has already begun, but the official deliveries will start only in the next couple of weeks.
