UM Lohia Two Wheelers (UML) has reduced the price of its two motorcycles, the Renegade Sports S and Renegade Commando by ₹ 4,199 and ₹ 5,684 respectively. The manufacturer has decided to pass on GST benefits to its customers before the actual implementation from 1 July 2017 although the benefits vary from state to state. The Renegade Sports S is priced at ₹ 1,68,280 while the Renegade Commando comes with a price tag of ₹ 1,73,918 (both ex-showroom, Delhi). While the revised on-road Mumbai prices for the bikes are Rs 2.02 lakh and Rs 2.08 lakh respectively; this is ₹ 9,000 and ₹ 8,000 cheaper than the earlier pricing.
The company is a joint venture between US-based UM International and Lohia Auto (earlier known as LML) which started operations in 2016. It locally produces 60 per cent of its components while the engine and fuel tank are imported. UM’s Uttarkhand facility is capable of producing 5000 units a month and retails its motorcycles from 12 dealerships across India.
Under GST, most two-wheelers will attract a tax rate of 28 per cent over the earlier 30 per cent while motorcycles with 350cc and above will have a 31 per cent tax rate. UML will join Bajaj and Royal Enfield in the list of companies offering GST benefits before the official government implementation.
