UM Motorcycles has launched the Renegade Mojave at Rs 1.89 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). If you’re on a similar budget, there are several motorcycles the market has to offer. We have listed down the motorcycles you could buy at the price of the Renegade Mojave.
The Renegade Mojave directly competes with the Royal Enfield Classic Desert Storm because of its similar theme. The Desert Storm is based on the Classic 500 and is priced at Rs 1.79 lakhs. The Classic 500 has a retro design and uses a 499cc single-cylinder engine that produces 27.2bhp and maximum torque of 41.3Nm. This engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. It is priced at Rs 1.75 lakhs. Royal Enfield also offers motorcycles that share the same engine, chassis and design, but differ in colour themes. There is the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome and Squadron Blue. The bikes retail at Rs 1.86 lakhs and 1.78 lakhs respectively. Also available from Royal Enfield’s stable is the Thunderbird 500. The bike’s design is that of a laid-back cruiser and uses the same 499cc mill as the Classics. The Thunderbird 500 retails at Rs 1.87 lakhs.
UM Motorcycles itself has two other motorcycles in the same price range in the form of the Renegade Sport S and Renegade Classic. The Sport S is built to be a cruiser that can appeal to the younger generation. The highlighted side panels and plastic bits for the rear and the long headlamp cowl add to that appeal. It retails at Rs 1.71 lakhs. The Renegade Classic also launched with the Mojave is filled with chrome bits all over. The bike is priced at Rs 1.80 lakhs.
The Indian market also offers streetfighters in this price range. There is the Benelli TNT 25, Mahindra Mojo and the KTM Duke 250. The Benelli TNT 25 is the Italian manufacturer’s entry-level quarter litre motorcycle. It uses a 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine which delivers 28bhp and 22Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission. The bike retails at Rs. 1.84 lakhs. The Mahindra Mojo is the company’s flagship motorcycle. This bike which is aimed at touring features an upright handle bar, long seat, Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres and a large 21-litre fuel tank. The bike sports a 295cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which delivers 27bhp and 30Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission. The Mojo is priced at Rs 1.72 lakhs.
KTM’s 250 Duke is another streetfighter you could opt for. The bike which derives its styling from the larger KTM Super Duke is placed between the KTM 200 Duke and KTM 390 Duke. It uses a 248cc single-cylinder engine which produces 29.6bhp and 24Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and final chain drive. The 250 Duke retails at Rs 1.74 lakhs. Apart from the 250 Duke, KTM also offers the RC 200. This bike is a faired version of the 200 Duke, albeit with a different chassis and design. The bike uses a 199cc single cylinder engine that delivers 25bhp and 19Nm of torque. The KTM RC 200 has a price tag of Rs 1.73 lakhs.
