UM Motorcycles India has reopened bookings for their Sport S and Commando Renegade models. These two models each available in three colour options will be delivered in August. UM will also begin offering test rides for 11 of their newly-opened dealerships in India, by the end of this month.
Earlier, UM Motorcycles had clocked over 1,000 bookings, less than two months after it first unveiled its India-bound motorcycle range at the 2016 Auto Expo. The company will begin deliveries of the first batch of motorcycles in June through their network of 25-30 dealerships.
Both motorcycles currently on sale offer distinctive styling, the Sport S features sporty touches and bright colour options and the Commando is a typical dark coloured retro-styled cruiser. However, both motorcycles are powered by an air-cooled 279cc single-cylinder engine. This engine delivers 25bhp and 21.8Nm of torque, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. To keep costs in check, UM decided to go with a carburettor instead of a fuel-injection system. The suspension setup consists of USD forks in the front and conventional twin hydraulic spring suspension at the rear. It gets a disc brake in the front and a drum unit for the rear.
The UM Renegade Classic which is their flagship cruiser and is part of the Renegade range is expected to go on sale by the end of this year.
