UM India is on an aggressive expansion. After the launch of its most affordable bike, the Renegade Duty 230 which is expected to happen next month, the company will launch three more cruisers, the Commando Iron 300, the Commando 300 LX and the Vegas 300.
All three motorcycles are based on the current 300cc Renegade platform. It will be powered by the same 280cc liquid-cooled engine that will churn out 25bhp and 23Nm of peak torque. But the fuel-injection system will be replaced by carburetor to keep the cost low. This will help the company price these bikes competitively. But UM will equip these bikes with fuel-injection once the industry gets closer to the 2020 BS-VI emission deadline.
The Commando Iron 300, the Commando 300 LX and the Vegas 300, all three bikes will have similar cycle parts but with different paint schemes and marginal component additions to enhance the visual appeal. The company is betting big on these models as they are expected to look better than the current product portfolio.
Just like the rest of its line-up, these bikes will be manufactured at the company’s Uttarakhand plant. The company will launch one bike at the time, depending on how the market respond to the previous lauunch.
