UM will enter the nascent but exciting adventure bike segment within six months. This news was confirmed to BikeWale at the launch of the Renegade Commando Classic and the Renegade Commando Mojave.
We’re not surprised with this announcement as the head honcho of the company had shared this intention with BikeWale almost a year ago. Since the beginning, UM wanted to make its presence felt in the niche but high-growth segment like the cruisers. The adventure bike space is considered to be the next big thing, especially at the entry-level due to the pricing and its practicality.
"We will launch an adventure bike within 6 months" said Rajeev Mishra at a press conference today.
While the detailed information on this new product isn’t out yet, the head honcho did hint about it being powered by a motor larger then 300cc motor and possibly a V-Twin. A few months ago, UM talked about a new V-Twin motor which will displace anything between 350cc and 400cc. So there’s a high chance that the adventure bike could be the first product to get this motor.
We’re expecting UM to showcase this upcoming adventure bike at the 2018 Auto Expo. It makes sense for UM to showcase the product at the biennial event as the customer response might help them while pricing the bike. There’s no real competition for this UM bike yet, as the launch of the BMW 310GS has been postponed and KTM is yet to reveal their 390 adventure.
