UM Motorcycles is interested in developing a rival to the high selling Bajaj Avenger. The company wants to explore the possibility of getting a product that would be tagged as a value for money product.
However, the American manufacturer doesn’t want this product to become a part of sub-1 lakh price bracket. Rather, this new motorcycle will be priced marginal above Rs 1 lakh that’ll help the company stick to its premium tag. We believe UM will develop a new 220cc engine to take on the Avenger 220 Cruise, which has been getting close to 30 per cent of overall Avenger sales. The Avenger 150 is priced very competitively and it won’t make economic sense for UM to develop a rival 150cc engine.
Just a day ago, we talked about UM’s plan to focus only on motorcycles between 200cc and 500cc displacement. The Avenger rival will be a perfect fit for the company, as it’ll help the company gain more sales and market share. While the top official didn’t reveal a time frame for this motorcycle, we believe that we’ll see something at the 2018 Auto Expo.
Stay tuned!
