- Boasts design similar to Yamaha Neo’s
- 80kmph top speed speculated
- Launch expected later this year
With the increasing adoption of electric two-wheelers in India, the competition in this space is growing at a rapid pace. While it already has a lot of contenders hustling to make a mark, we might see a new entrant in the coming days which goes by the name River EV. It’s a Bangalore-based startup and has recently been caught testing one of its upcoming electric scooters.
Although the spotted test mule was entirely camouflaged, one can clearly decipher the design of the scooter. The front fascia bears an uncanny resemblance with Yamaha’s Neo’s electric scooter. There’s a dual square-shaped LED headlamp housed in a bulbous front apron which is crowned by an exposed digital console. Similarly, the rear section looks bulky with large panels, a wide grab rail, and a rectangular tail lamp. Moreover, the stepped seat and footboard both look quite spacious.
On the hardware front, the e-scooter looks quite premium with large alloy wheels (presumably 14-inch units) and telescopic forks up front along with a disc brake. One interesting bit is the presence of a clip-on handlebar which is uncommon in scooters. Although the exact battery and motor specifications aren’t known yet, the River EV scooter is likely to deliver a range of 180km and a top speed of 80kmph. More details will emerge as we get closer to the official launch which might take place in the second half of 2023.
