- Royal Enfield Super Meteor spotted testing
- Was equipped with touring accessories
- Official launch could take place in early 2022
In our exclusive report last month, we broke the news that Royal Enfield’s frequently-spied 650cc cruiser will be called the Super Meteor. We also told you that it’s likely to be launched in India in early 2022. While there’s still some time for its arrival, the Super Meteor was recently spotted testing on public roads once again.
This test mule was equipped with accessories like a tall windscreen and a pillion back rest. There was a widely protruding crash guard as well. The most noticeable thing was that the test mule looked to be in fully finished form, ready to go into production.
Other aspects of the Super Meteor that we are already aware of include its 648cc, parallel-twin engine that does duty on the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. It churns out a healthy 47bhp of power and 52Nm of peak torque. However, unlike the existing 650’s telescopic forks, this motorcycle will be suspended by more premium upside down forks.
Similar to the new Himalayan and 350cc Meteor, Royal Enfield might equip the Super Meteor with its Tripper Navigation system that connects with the rider’s smartphone to give access to turn-by-turn navigation. A slipper clutch and a dual-channel ABS set-up might also come as standard fitment.
Once launched, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor will essentially compete against mid-size cruisers like the Kawasaki Vulcan S and the Benelli 502C.
