Upcoming two-wheelers in India in August 2023

The Indian two-wheeler industry will witness the launch of multiple products, including two iconic brands, in the month of August 2023. Among the list is the Hero Karizma, which will make a comeback with a brand-new engine. Then, Royal Enfield will finally launch the J-platform-based Bullet 350, which will share its new engine with the Classic 350, Meteor 350, and Hunter 350. Here, we list all the products that are scheduled to arrive in India in August 2023.

Honda 150-180cc Motorcycle

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India will update its portfolio by unveiling a new product on 2 August, 2023. As of now, the company has not released any details about it yet. However, sources close to the development have confirmed that this new product will arrive in the 150-180cc motorcycle segment of the Indian market. The company currently has two engines in this displacement class – 162.7cc and 184.4cc. The former powers the Honda Unicorn 160, while the latter is used on the CB Hornet 2.0. We expect the prices to start in the Rs. 1.05-1.15 lakh (ex-showroom) range, which will put this new motorcycle between the Honda Unicorn 160 and the CB Hornet 2.0.

Hero Karizma XMR 210

Hero MotoCorp has released a teaser video on its social media handles, hinting at the imminent launch of the new Karizma XMR 210. This motorcycle was showcased to dealer partners in India earlier this year. In fact, we did a detailed video about this motorcycle based on the leaked picture from the same event that revealed various details about the product. The new Karizma XMR 210 will use a newly developed, 210cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The details about its output are not available yet. However, sources close to the development have hinted that this motor will deliver a maximum power of 25bhp and come linked to a six-speed gearbox, thus putting it in the same range as the KTM RC200 and the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.

Royal Enfield Bullet 350

The updated Royal Enfield Bullet 350, which will debut with the new J-Platform, is scheduled to be launched in India on 30 August. This motorcycle will use the J-series 349cc, single-cylinder motor that already powers the Classic 350, Meteor 350, and Hunter 350. The output numbers will be similar for the Bullet 350, and thus it will draw 20.2bhp and 27Nm from the air/oil-cooled engine. Meanwhile, the styling will be similar to the previous version, and the latest iteration of the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 will retain a round headlight, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a side-slung exhaust. The hardware will retain telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks, a front disc, and a rear drum. The rear disc will be available on the higher variants. Then, this motorcycle will ride on spoke wheels that would be wrapped in road-biased tube-type tyres.

Ather 450 S Electric Scooter

Ather Energy is set to unveil its most affordable electric scooter, the 450 S, in India in early August 2023. This new variant of the Ather 450 electric scooter will be the new entry-level model in the company’s portfolio, and thus, it will get relatively lesser features and lower specifications. The top speed, for example, will be 90kmph, while the IDC (ideal driving conditions) range will be 115km. Further, social media teasers also hint that this electric scooter will get a budget-friendly LCD console. However, the scooter could still get smartphone connectivity as a standard feature. Meanwhile, the styling will mostly remain similar to the existing Ather 450 electric scooters. Even the front forks, rear monoshock, and front and rear disc brake with the belt drive could remain unchanged.

TVS Creon Electric Scooter

TVS Motor Company has released a teaser image, along with a press invite, of its upcoming product that is scheduled to arrive on August 23. While the company has not released the name of this upcoming product, the headlight’s design resembles that of the Creon electric scooter, which was showcased at the Auto Expo in India. Contrary to the company’s existing electric scooter, the iQube, this upcoming product will pack a modern design that should appeal to young buyers. This modern styling will most likely be accompanied by bold colour options and good performance.
