- Features a single-pod headlight
- To be officially unveiled on 18 May, 2021
- India-launch details unavailable yet
The new Yamaha YZF-R7, which is scheduled to be unveiled on 18 May, 2021, has been revealed through leaked photographs. The leaked images give a detailed look at the upcoming middleweight supersport model. Unlike the current-generation YZF-R1, the middleweight model features a centrally-mounted headlight with LED DRLs flanked on either side. The front fascia also comprises fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors and a clear windscreen.
The fuel tank gets a YZF-R1-style fin design. Other features include sleek LED blinkers, a clip-on style handlebar, split-style seats, and a compact exhaust cannister. The hardware on the motorcycle comprise upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock to perform the suspension tasks. The braking tasks are handled by twin rotors at the front and a single disc at the back. Leaked images confirm at least two colour options – Racing Blue and Black. The graphics are limited, and fairing gets an R7 badge.
The details about the mechanical specifications are unavailable at the moment. However, reports claimed that the new YZF-R7 will use the same motor as the MT-07. The 689cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor on the naked roadster makes 72.4bhp of maximum power at 8,750rpm and 67Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.
The YZF-R7 and its full mechanical specifications will be fully revealed on 18 May, 2021. The India-launch details about the motorcycle are not available yet.
