From the spy picture, we can see that the KTM 1290 Super Duke R has clearly got significant styling updates. The motorcycle gets a new front end with restyled bodywork. Additionally, this updated Super Duke is believed to get technological and performance upgrades.
The motorcycle gets a much sharper headlight which is expected to be a full-LED unit. The tank and the side panels are narrower and forwardly styled to suit the new headlight design. The cowls either side of the tank have been redesigned to make a right-angle which follows the edge of the radiator.
The updated KTM is believed to boast enhanced electronic rider aids including cornering ABS, the latest Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) systems for monitoring wheelies, ABS and traction control. It is also expected to have the WP electronic semi-active suspension from the GT variant.
The exhaust system also has a larger silencer and catalytic converter which will make the model compliant with the latest Euro 4 emission limits. KTM has already made a Euro 4 compliant version of the Super Duke R’s 1301cc V-twin engine, for use in its sports-touring sister, the 2016 1290 Super Duke GT. That 173bhp engine will directly slide into this updated 1290 Super Duke R.
