Piaggio revealed its intentions to bring electric two-wheelers to India at the Auto Expo 2020. To mark the announcement, the company showcased the stunning Vespa Electtrica e-scooter which is on sale in a few international markets. While we wait for Piaggio to officially introduce an electric scooter here, let’s ogle at the pictures of the Vespa Electtrica from the Expo.
The design of the Electtrica follows the traditional Vespa design theme with plush-looking curvy body panels. The gloss-finished silver paint job is accentuated by yellow accents placed at strategic areas.
Contrasting the old-school styling of the scooter are modern features such a bright LED headlamp housed inside a round chrome-finished bezel.
Similarly, the tail lamp of the Electtrica is also LED which is flanked by small turn indicators sitting flush in rear panel.
Considering the rider comfort, this Vespa gets a large and spacious seat which tapers at the front for making it easier for the rider to step their feet on the ground.
Under this seat is a fairly capacious storage bin accompanied by a long charging cable and plug.
The instrumentation of the Electtrica comprises of a Bluetooth-enabled full-colour TFT display which connects with smartphone and shows ample information via a smartphone app.
Propelling the scooter is a brushless DC motor which produces 3.6kW continuous power and 4kW peak power. The power is delivered in two modes including eco and power.
Suspension set up comprises of single-sided trailing link dampers up front and a monoshock at the rear with a disc-drum braking hardware.
While specifications of the Vespa Electtrica are impressive, Piaggio will be developing toned down versions of the same for India.
