Victory has launched its first ever all-electric production motorcycle – the Empulse TT. A rebadged and slightly modified version of the Brammo Empulse R, this naked electric sportbike is being rolled off the production lines just six months after Victory’s parent company, Polaris, acquired the electric bike manufacturer - Brammo.
The Empulse TT is built around a twin-spar aluminum frame which gets fully adjustable suspension. The front gets inverted forks while the rear rides on a monoshock setup. Powering the Victory Empulse TT is a Permanent Magnet AC Induction electric motor, which puts out 54 horsepower and a peak torque of 80.7 Nm. The Empulse TT comes with a Stage 2 charger, which can fully charge the motorcycle in just under four hours.
The American manufacturer recently celebrated its first ever TT podium after Lee Johnston rode a 179.63kmph lap in the SES TT Zero race to take the third place, though this race bike churned out around 100 horsepower more than the Empulse TT. Though Victory has been working with Brammo since 2011, it was only in January this year that the two companies came under the same umbrella. With Polaris acquiring the ownership of Brammo, Victory now has access to the latest electric drivetrain technologies. The Empulse TT retails at USD 20,000 (Rs 12.79 lakh) in the US market.
Speaking about the Empulse TT, Joshua Katt, Victory Electric Product Manager said, “The Empulse TT was developed primarily as an electric motorcycle delivering a sporty ride. With dual ride modes – ECO and SPORT – to choose from and the addition of a gearbox, the Empulse TT is a versatile motorcycle that can be used for impressively sporty riding or as a casual commuter.”
