Victory Motorcycles has announced its participation in the Isle of Man TT Zero class, of the 2015 season. With the support of Brammo, Victory will field its contender in the pure-electric class of the 2015 Isle of Man TT, rivalling the likes of Sarolea and Team Mugen.
Victory Motorcycles’ parent company, Polaris, recently acquired the electric bike manufacturer – Brammo, which has given them access to the latest electric drivetrain technology. With a dedicated racing motor and chassis, Brammo has especially developed the prototypes to tackle the mountain course. Riding the prototypes would be British motorcycle racers and previous TT winners - William Dunlop and Lee Johnston.
This year’s edition will mark the fourth edition of the TT Zero race, in which riders have to complete one lap of the 60 kilometre mountain course. The 2015 Isle of Man TT races will be held from May 30 to June 12 at the Isle of Mann.
Polaris recently filed a patent for the name ‘Victory Charger’ in the US, hinting at the possibility of an electric Victory cruiser to compete with the Harley Davidson Livewire. Reports suggest that while Brammo would focus on the design and development of the electric motorcycle, Polaris would take care of the production at its Iowa facility in the US.
