Victory Racing has announced a return to the prestigious Pikes Peak with the Project 156 and the Empulse RR. American riders Jeremy Toye and Don Canet will pilot newly updated prototypes, as the racing team aims to add another feather in its cap, post its success at the 2015 Isle of Man TT.
Victory Racing has already commenced testing of the fully-electric Empulse RR prototype for its raid of the Pikes Peak. The Empulse RR came in third in the TT Zero class of the 2015 Isle of Man TT. Don Canet, a motorcycle journalist who rode the Project 156 at last year’s Pikes Peak, has been getting acquainted with the power delivery, handling and nuances of racing an electric motorcycle. The Project 156 on the other hand, is a prototype purpose built to compete in the Pikes Peak challenge. Riding on high-end Ohlins suspension, it is powered by Indian Scout’s 1,131cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine. It will be ridden by Jeremy Toye, who had conquered the hill climb challenge back in 2014 aboard a Kawasaki ZX-10R.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Pikes Peak. Scheduled to be conducted on June 26, this year’s hill climb challenge will witness the contention of over 100 riders across different categories.
