MV Agusta has launched the Brutale 800, its second offering from the Brutale line-up after the Brutale 1090, in India. The bike is priced at Rs 15.59 lakhs (ex-showroom). For that price tag, one can opt for different segment motorcycles apart from the streetfighters that the Brutale directly competes with. We take a look at what else you can buy.
Let’s start with India’s most loved superbike, made famous by a certain Bollywood movie. No cookies for guessing that right. The Suzuki Hayabusa is one of the fastest mass produced bikes ever made and you can get it at a price of Rs 16.18 lakhs (ex-showroom). The hypersport uses a 1340cc in-line four cylinder engine which produces 197bhp at 9500rpm and 155Nm of torque at 7200rpm.
Suzuki also offers a sport cruiser in the form of the Intruder M1800R. The Intruder offers immense road presence with its use of chrome on most parts and its wide rear tyre. It uses a 1783cc V-Twin engine that produces 127bhp and maximum torque of 160Nm. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel through a shaft drive. The Intruder M1800R retails at a price of Rs 16.18 lakhs (ex-showroom). Another power cruiser in offer comes from Italy. The Ducati Diavel is a cross between the classic laidback cruisers and the modern sport tourers and sports a naked body style. The bike uses a 1200cc Testastretta L-Twin engine that produces 160bhp at 9250rpm and peak torque of 130Nm at 8000rpm mated to a six-speed gearbox and final chain drive. The Ducati is well equipped with ride-by-wire technology and three riding modes and you can get one for Rs 15.93 lakhs (ex-showroom).
If retro café racer styled motorcycles are more to your interest, then BMW offers the R Nine T Scrambler which gets a host of classic styling cues. The bike is powered by an 1170cc air-cooled twin-cylinder boxer engine, which delivers 110bhp and 116Nm of torque. The bike gets switchable ABS which is offered as a standard. The R Nine T Scrambler retails at Rs 16. 13 lakhs (ex-showroom).
BMW also offers adventure touring motorcycles in the form of the R 1200 GS and the R 1200 RS. While the GS is a full-fledged dual sport motorcycle, the RS is a long distance tourer. The R 1200 GS is powered by 1170cc boxer-twin engine that generates 124bhp of power and 125Nm of torque that is transferred to the rear wheel via shaft drive. The R1200GS gets a 20-litre fuel tank, long travel suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels. It retails at Rs 16.04 lakhs (ex-showroom). The R 1200 RS also uses a 1170 cc boxer-twin engine that produces 121.60bhp at 7750rpm and peak torque of 125Nm at 6500rpm.
