Yamaha recently launched the XSR900 internationally but that has not stopped the modifying gurus from working their magic on it. Not yet launched in India, the XSR900 is placed in what Yamaha call the “Sport Heritage” class. Wrenchmonkees, based in Copenhagen, Denmark recently unveiled this custom beast or should I say ‘Monkeebeaast’ based on this motorcycle.
The motorcycle features many one-off bits from the guys at Wrenchmonkees. The custom front fender, engine guard and tank covers really give the styling this dark motorcycle needed.
What is refreshing is that the design does not include sharp and edgy bits like most modern custom bikes. The design philosophy showcases the smoother flowing lines of these custom built panels.
The Borrani 17-inch spoke wheels wrapped with Continental TKC tyres really showcase what the Monkeebeast is really about. It is a sublime combination of quality wheels and purpose built rubber.
The motorcycle also features 9mm stainless spokes, black hubs and a K-Tech rear shock. It goes to show again that the motorcycle is not only visually crafted but mechanically as well.
Gilles Tooling chain adjusters and a TRW rear brake disc and steel braided brake lines are a nice addition. Braking at the front gets a Nissin radial front brake master and steel braided brake lines.
There’s also a Wrenchmonkees one-off seat which is extremely minimalistic but adds the right type of character. The custom bike also features Gilles Tooling rearsets modified with enduro footrests.
The thin Magura handlebar and retro-styled Biltwell Renegade grips along with the Motogadget pushbuttons clean up the contact point in the front. The thin brake and clutch levers also blend well.
The custom one-off aluminium rear fender is beaky but short with an integrated darkened LED taillight, beside it, is the contrasting SC Project. The Monkeebeast also gets a MT-03 style headlight.
