- Xiaomi launches new QiCycle foldable electric bike
- Rated top speed is 25kmph with a battery range of 40km
- Expected to be introduced in India in the near future
Xiaomi has been going aggressive with the expansion of its electric bike portfolio and has introduced a new foldable, power-assisted electric bike under its brand, QiCycle. It is a a successor to the EF1 model with updates to its styling and performance. Interestingly, a majority of its hardware is made up of carbon fibre while the main frame is an aluminum unit. While that indicates it would be a feather-light bike, the exact weight of the bike is still unknown.
The new QiCycle e-bike rides on large 20-inch wheels for better stability on not just tarmac but also over mildly rough terrains. Xiaomi has employed a compact 36V, 5.2Ah battery which is claimed to deliver a range of around 40km. Powered by a 250W rear hub motor, it reportedly maxes out at the speed of 25kmph, the maximum permitted top speed for electric bikes as per Chinese regulations.
The new QiCycle foldable electric bike is also equipped with nifty features such as an LED headlamp and tail lamp along with LED brake light. It also incorporates a fully-digital display which adjusts brightness according to the ambient lighting.
In China, Xiaomi has priced the latest QiCycle electric bike at 2,999 yuan which converts to Rs 30,409. Although the technology firm hasn’t launched these products in India, they are expected to arrive soon in the future. Xiaomi’s QiCycle electric bike brand was launched in 2016 with its first product being the R1.
