- Powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled motor
- Dubbed the Y16ZR Doxou Tech
- Exclusive to the Malaysian market
Yamaha has launched the Aerox 155’s lookalike sibling in Malaysia. It's called the Y16ZR Doxou Tech special edition and is exclusive to the Malaysian market. The new, sporty maxi-scooter looks quite desirable and borrows its design cues from the Aerox.
The Y16ZR gets a split LED headlight with a central-set DRL below the handlebar cowl. It also features sharp side panels with a tail-up posture and a scooped single seat. But unlike the Aerox, the Y16ZR gets a foot lever for the rear brake and a gear shifter as well. Adding to its attractive design are the Y16ZR’s alloys.
Yamaha has powered this maxi-scooter by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor that makes 17.7bhp and 14.4Nm. It’s linked to a five-speed gearbox. The scooter rides on telescopic front forks and a monoshock, while the braking hardware comprises a front and rear disc brake. It features an LCD console with all the necessary readouts like the speedometer, odometer, trip meter, and fuel level.
Yamaha Malaysia is yet to reveal the asking price for the Y16ZR, but its production will be limited to just 5,000 units. That said, it won’t be coming to India since the scooter market here is based on practicality. Thus, they need to have a frugal motor, flat floorboard, decent boot space, and more.
