- Spotted on display at dealership.
- Unlikely to be launched in the country anytime soon.
- Uses a 155cc engine with VVA, similar to the R15 V3.0.
The Yamaha Aerox 155 has been spotted once again at a dealership in India. The premium scooter was earlier seen at a service center back in January this year.
However, contrary to rumours, the Aerox 155 is unlikely to be launched in the country anytime soon and is only on display as a brand building tool and to gauge customer feedback. The Yamaha Aerox 155 is sold in south-east countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. It sports sharp styling with an aggressive fascia that houses a twin-LED headlamp setup. Yamaha has loaded the premium scooter with features like a 5.8-inch digital instrument display, mobile charger, keyless ignition, start-stop system, a large 25-litre underseat storage space and single-channel ABS.
The Aerox 155 is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the YZF-R15 V3 which is sold in India. This unit produces 14.8bhp and 13.8Nm of torque and also gets the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology from the motorcycle. It rides on 14-inch wheels shod with 110/80 section and 140/70 section tyres for the front and rear respectively.
Currently, India has three 150cc scooters- the Aprilia SR150, Vespa SXL 150 and VXL 150. The scooters use the same 150cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 10.5bhp and 11.5Nm of torque. While the Aprilia SR 150 retails at Rs 71,486, the Vespa SXL 150 and VXL 150 are priced at Rs 96,519 and Rs 92,594 respectively.
