- The scooter has been unveiled in Japan
- It’ll be available only for demonstration purpose and is not on sale for retail buyers
- Yamaha will offer it Europe and other regions very soon
After launching the Neo’s electric scooter, Yamaha has now unveiled the E01 electric scooter in its home country of Japan. The electric maxi-scooter is currently offered for demonstration purposes and is not on sale.
The E01’s design is pretty close to the concept that was displayed at multiple auto shows. It gets the same bulky body work with a spine in the middle and a mildly scooped single piece seat. Even in its current form, the E01 looks quite admirable.
It’s powered by a 8.1kW motor and gets a claimed range of 104km from its lithium-ion battery. The charging time is said to be 1 hour using the quick charger (battery only charges till 90 percent) 5 hours using a regular charger and 14 hours using a portable charger. The charging port is mounted on the front.
It features LED illumination all around, three riding modes (power, standard and eco), traction control system, regenerative braking, reverse function, a SIM card and GPS function and an LCD. Yamaha has also given it two storage spaces at the front apart from the underseat cavity.
Yamaha will offer the E01 on lease to the ones whose applications are approved. As of now, the E01 and its lease program is only available in Japan. But Yamaha does have plans to expand in other countries very soon.
