- Returns to Indonesia after 2015
- Gets the mild hybrid technology
- India launch isn’t on the cards
Yamaha has refreshed its product portfolio in Indonesia by launching the updated version of its retro-inspired scooter, the 2023 Grand Filano. Sporting mild hybrid technology, the scooter shares a lot of its components with Fascino 125 that’s sold in India.
While the Grand Filano looks similar to the Fascino, it has its own visual identity which is a little more understated than its sibling available in India. The entire bodywork follows a curvy design theme with a diamond-shaped headlamp, dual-tone front and swooping front apron, and a rear section which tapers at the end and houses a petite tail lamp. It also boasts some chrome garnishing on its mirrors and exhaust shield.
Talking about the features, the Grand Filano comprises an LCD dash accompanied by a tiny TFT screen underneath and offers Bluetooth connectivity. Furthermore, Yamaha has equipped it with a large 27-litre boot with an LED, a silent starter, a USB charging port, hazard lamps, full-LED lighting, and a front-mounted fuel filler cap.
Powering the scooter is a 125cc, mild hybrid engine that produces around 8bhp and 10.4Nm of peak torque. It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends that are suspended by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a disc-drum combination with a single-channel ABS setup.
Yamaha won’t launch the Grand Filano in India anytime soon. However, it does sell other desirable 125cc scooters in India including the Fascino 125 and Ray ZR 125.
