Yamaha India rumoured to be working e-scooter based on Neo

-         Likely to look like Yamaha Neo

Yamaha India is rumoured to be working on a new electric scooter. This EV is likely to be based on Yamaha’s Neo e-scooter –a two-wheeler made for developed markets like Japan.

According to a report, this upcoming electric scooter will be developed by Yamaha Japan and Yamaha India. But the components will be sourced from their Indian vendors. In short, the product will be designed and developed in Japan but is likely to be fully manufactured in India to keep the costs in check.

The Japanese brand had showcased the Neo electric scooters a few weeks ago to its dealers. However, according to our dealer sources, not a lot of them were excited to see it due to its poor riding range. But they did like the overall styling of the product.

We can expect this new EV from Yamaha to make its debut sometime in 2024-2025 as the development is at its early stage. Suzuki, the other Japanese company is a step ahead and has already readied the Burgman Street e-scooter for the Indian market.
