- Yamaha could relaunch the RX100 brand
- Can give a name to a new motorcycle
- Plans are still not finalised
Yamaha India plans to relaunch a legendary brand in the country – the RX100. The company wants to bring this brand back and is looking at various possibilities.
According to a report, the Japanese brand knows the substantial brand value of the RX100 – a 100cc two-stroke motorcycle known for its styling and performance a few decades ago. So it will help the brand if they bring this motorcycle brand back to India.
As of now, there are no concrete plans for this bike as two-stroke bikes have been banned. But Yamaha is also looking at giving this name to a new motorcycle. This new bike could be of any displacement and will have no relation to the old model. But using the RX brand may help the company cater to large Indian consumers. This branding approach is taken by a few two-wheeler brands in India. Bajaj did it with the Chetak. It re-entered the scooter space but in electric form and it worked quite well for them.
