- New YZF-R9 likely to be unveiled soon
- Brand has registered the logo of the bike
- 2022 EICMA unveil possible
Yamaha is most likely to showcase its new sports bike – the YZF-R9 soon. The brand has registered the actual logo of this bike in Australia.
The Japanese firm had previously registered the trademark for YZF-R9. But now, by registering the logo, it is clear that the new YZF-R9 is ready to make its world debut. While the brand has started with the Australian market first, it is expected to register the logo in more markets in the next few months.
This new YZF-R9 is likely to be based on the MT-09 platform – a platform known to offer the balance between performance, agility and reliability. So we can see the YZF-R9 to be powered by the same 117bhp engine but expect a different state of tune.
In terms of features, the YZF-R9 is bound to get lots of electronics along with a quick-shifter, top-spec suspension and brakes. The instrument cluster is likely to be TFT in nature and there could be Bluetooth connectivity as well.
We are expecting Yamaha to unveil this new R series bike at the 2022 EICMA, followed by a global launch in early 2023. Sadly, this bike too, won’t come to India as Yamaha India is focused more on commuter motorcycles and scooters.
