- MT-09, Tracer 9 GTs recalled
- Issues with ECU
- Flashing the ECU fixes the problem
Yamaha has issued recall notices in US for two of its bikes – the MT-09 and the Tracer 9 GT. These recalls are related to stalling issues.
According to the Japanese brand, a total of 3594 bikes are affected due to this issue. An improper programmed ECU could result into unexpected stalling of engine. This may result in loss of control and a crash with severe injury or even death.
The affected bikes have been manufactured between 10th November 2020 and 9th February 2022. The company has advised the rider’s not to ride the affected motorcycles for now. They have been advised to take the bike to the nearest service center. The technicians will reflash the ECU as it’s a software issue and nothing to do with hardware. The brand will start contacting the affected owners starting 17th March.
