- Yamaha introduced the 2021 NMax 125 in Japan
- The new model gets a host of changes
- Won’t be launched in India
Yamaha has updated its 125cc maxi-scooter, the NMax 125, for 2021 in Japan. It has received a bunch of updates for this year and will be available for the buyers from 28 June, 2021.
Starting with the features, the 2021 NMax 125 comes equipped with an LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity for pairing it with the rider’s smartphone. It also gets an engine start-stop system and traction control system, something that’s quite uncommon in small scooters. The quintessential maxi design of the NMax has remained unchanged and it continues to feature a spacious footrest provision, like that in the Suzuki Burgman Street 125.
Yamaha has also revised the 124cc, liquid-cooled engine of the NMax to make it comply with the new emission norms. In the process, it has witnessed a small 1Nm drop in its peak torque that stands at 11Nm while power output remains the same at 11.8bhp. The company claims that the changes have also resulted in better mileage. Based on an underbone frame, the scooter rides on 13-inch wheels at both ends that are suspended by telescopic forks and a monoshock.
The NMax 125 is undoubtedly an attractive proposition but Yamaha is unlikely to bring it to India in the near future. What we have here are the Fascino 125 and the Ray ZR 125.
