Yamaha has launched its brand new commuter motorcycle, christened Saluto RX, at Rs 46,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Targeted at a semi-urban and metropolitan audience, the Saluto RX is the most affordable motorcycle in Yamaha’s Indian portfolio.
Aesthetically, the Saluto RX is styled similar to its bigger 125cc sibling, the Saluto. However, a few design elements like the smoother body lines, new 10-spoke alloy wheels and the revised seat set it apart from the Saluto. Yamaha has also reworked the diamond frame and bodywork to cut down on weight.
The Yamaha Saluto RX is powered by a brand new 110cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, delivering 7bhp and 8.5Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a four-speed constant mesh transmission. Given the Saluto RX’s target audience, Yamaha has developed the engine along the lines of BlueCore technology, to improve the efficiency without compromising on the performance. The Saluto RX tips the scales at just 98 kilograms, and this weight plays an important role in helping the bike deliver a company-claimed 82kmpl.
The Yamaha Saluto RX is available in four paint schemes - blue, black, matte black and red. It competes with other commuter motorcycles like the Hero Passion Pro, Mahindra Centuro, Honda CD 110 Dream and the recently launched TVS Victor.
