Yamaha has launched a new scrambler-styled model in the United States. The motorcycle will sit alongside other models in the Yamaha Sport Heritage range. Yamaha has priced the new SCR950 Scrambler at 8699 US Dollars (Rs 5.8 lakh) in the United States.
The SCR950 is powered by a 942cc, air-cooled V-twin engine, fuel-injected engine with four valves per cylinder. The engine is designed to provide healthy low end torque which is necessary for a motorcycle of its type. The motorcycle hosts a double-cradle frame with centrally mounted footpegs. In typical fashion, the scrambler also features wide and tall handlebars.
To add to the retro-ness to this bike Yamaha has gone with the retro-racing number-plate-styled side covers, fork gaiters, wire-spoked aluminium rims. Along with a 2-into-1 exhaust pipe with upswept muffler, and long low-profile seat. And to keep it up to date it hosts modern touches like an LCD speedometer, LED taillight, flangeless fuel tank, modern brakes with wave-type rotors and a low-maintenance carbon-fibre-core belt final drive.
The SCR950 will be available in two colours: charcoal silver and rapid red. Each colour scheme is complemented by racing-inspired red, white, and black graphics. At the moment, there is no news on the Indian launch of this motorcycle. If launched, expect pricing to be significantly higher owing to our country’s taxing structure.
