- Yamaha Sniper 155 and 155R introduced in the Philippines
- Prices start at PHP 1,14,900
- Available in four colour options
Yamaha has announced the launch of the Sniper 155 and 155R in the Philippines. The design of the sports scooter is inspired by the YZF-R1. The Japanese brand seems to be strategically introducing products in different markets, as they recently rolled out the NVX in the Malaysian market.
The Yamaha Sniper is a sharp and sporty-looking scooter. The Standard variant comes with features like all LED lights, negative LCD instrument cluster, slipper clutch and VVA technology, which ensures linear power delivery throughout the rev range. Meanwhile, a 12V power socket and smart key system are additionally offered with the R variant.
Powering this scooter is a single-cylinder liquid-cooled 155cc engine that churns out 17.7bhp at 9,500rpm and 14.4Nm at 8,000rpm. All this power and torque is taken to its wheels via a six-speed transmission. The ride here is taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and a swingarm suspension at the rear. For braking, it employs a single disc on both ends.
The Standard variant of the scooter is priced at PHP 1,14,900, which converts to Rs 1.74 lakh. Meanwhile, the R variant is priced at PHP 1,20,900, which converts to Rs 1.84 lakh. It is available in four colours options: Race Blue, Black Raven, Yellow Hornet and Matte Titan. However, the Japanese automaker does not seem to have any plans of introducing the same in the Indian market.
