Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer, Zontes, has revealed its Yamaha T-Max rivalling maxi-scooter, the ZT 500 in its home markets. This new product from Zontes packs big dimensions and a curvy overall design. The styling cues on the Zontes ZT 500 comprise twin-pod headlights, a large windscreen, a split-style floorboard, a step-up seat, and a split-style pillion grabrail.
The muscular styling is complemented by a performance-packed engine. This maxi-scooter is powered by a 491cc, single-cylinder engine that delivers a maximum output of 44.9bhp and a peak torque of 53Nm. Notably, this motor is based on the company’s 349cc maxi-scooter, the Zontes ZT 350. The top speed of this higher-displacement maxi-scooter in Zontes’ product portfolio is rated at 160kmph.
Meanwhile, the hardware on the Zontes ZT 500 comprises disc brakes on both wheels that work with J.Juan-sourced callipers, while the safety net comprises dual-channel ABS. The scooter rides on 15-inch wheels on both ends, and these are wrapped in 120/70-section front and 160/60-section rear tubeless tyres, respectively. Further, it uses telescopic front forks and twin rear springs to handle the suspension tasks.
The Indian launch of the Zontes ZT 500 is unlikely. However, Zontes currently operates in our market with Adishwar Auto Ride India, and offers five products here – 350R, 350X, GK 350, 350T, and 350T ADV.
