- Likely a private import than a test mule
- Unlikely to be launched in India
- Currently available in the international market only
The Yamaha TMax maxi-scooter has been spotted in India. However, this is more likely a private import than a test scooter. As of now, Yamaha offers the scooter in the international market only. Here’s what we know about the Yamaha TMax Tech Max.
The Japanese maxi-scooter boasts a butch design and notably large proportions than the average scooter we see in India. It features a large and wide split LED headlight setup with a transparent visor up top. Then, there’s a step-up single-piece seat with a small cushion in between for the rider’s lower back support. It also gets an upswept exhaust, which adds to the overall design cues of the TMax Tech Max.
Powering the Yamaha scooter is a 562cc parallel-twin cylinder motor that makes 46bhp and 55.9Nm. It’s linked to a CVT transmission. On the hardware front, the Yamaha TMax Tech Max gets USD front forks and a monoshock. The brakes include dual 267mm front discs and a single 282mm rear disc mounted on 15-inch wheels. These are wrapped in a 120/70 front and 160/60 rear tyre.
Yamaha has equipped the TMax Tech Max with features like LED illumination and a TFT screen with smartphone connectivity to give the rider access to navigation, call/SMS alerts, music controls, and other notifications. Then, there’s the electronically adjustable windscreen, cruise control, heated seats and grips, keyless operation, anti-theft locking centre stand, and ABS.
In the UK, the asking price for the Yamaha TMax Tech Max is GBP 13,807 (approximately Rs. 14 lakh). This makes it extremely pricey for the Indian market, so the chances of the TMax launching here are bleak.
