Yamaha is all set to launch the Monster Energy MotoGP edition of its 125cc scooter, the Cygnus-X 125, in Japan on 20 October 2020. While the overall design of the scooter will be the same as the standard model, it will adorn a livery inspired by Yamaha’s YZR M1 MotoGP machine. In the pictures, the scooter boasts of a black and blue paint job with ‘Monster Energy’ branding and logo on several parts.
Powering the Yamaha Cygnus-X is a 124cc, single-cylinder, four-valve engine which churns out 9.7bhp of power at 7,500rpm and 9.9Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends which are suspended by telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers. Braking hardware comprises of a disc at both ends. While the weight of the Cygnus stands at 119kg, it sports a fuel tank with a capacity of 6.5-litre. For illumination, the scooter gets a conventional headlamp and turn indicators while the tail lamp is an LED unit.
Although the Cygnus-X 125 won’t be launched in India anytime soon, Yamaha has the Ray ZR 125 in our country which could get the MotoGP treatment in the coming days. We would also love to see the YZF R15 V3 fully-faired offering wearing the racy Monster Energy graphics.
