Yamaha has announced that it will launch the BS VI two-wheelers much before the April 2020 deadline. The company would first start with motorcycles, followed by scooters.
According to the Japanese maker, BS-VI motorcycles will make its presence felt as early as November, whereas the scooters will be launched in January 2020. The introduction of BS-VI engines may impact the pricing of these bikes and scooters between 10 to 15 per cent. However, to justify this price increase, Yamaha would also equip some of its bikes and scooters with a ‘side stand switch’ feature. This features prevents the engine to start till the side stand is pulled up completely.
A hike up to 15 per cent will definitely make all the Yamaha two-wheelers quite expensive. However, the company used the words ‘may’ and ‘up to’ in their release which makes us believe that the hike could be minimal and maybe only one motorcycle could get a 15 per cent hike. Plus, this could also be a way for the company to help dealer clear stocks before the festive season kicks in, which by the way, is also the time when manufacturers push more stocks to dealers.
