Yamaha to reveal three electric scooters at Tokyo Motor Show 2019

- Yamaha to showcase two concepts and one production e-scooter

- Concept scooters will form a base for Yamaha’s future electric scooters

- Production model is the electric derivative of the petrol-powered Vino

The 46th edition of Tokyo Motor Show is just around the corner and manufacturers are gearing up to reveal their upcoming products along with concepts. With the biennial event scheduled to take place from 24 October, Japanese bike maker Yamaha has revealed pictures and information of three electric scooters that will be showcased at the motor show.

The line-up consists of two concept e-scooters and one production-bound model. Christened as the E01 and the E02, the concept scooters feature a profoundly futuristic styling. The E0-1 sports a maxi-scooter design with smooth-flowing body panels, tall windscreen, long seat tapering at the rear and slick tyres with Bridgestone branding. On the other hand, the E02 is the smaller version of the concept with shorter wheel base, compact body panels, narrower seat along with smaller wheels. In terms of performance, the E01 is said to be equivalent to a 125cc scooter while the E02 is as powerful as a 50cc scooter. Both these models are likely to form a base for the future electric scooters from Yamaha.

Coming to the production model, this is based on Yamaha’s conventional scooter, the Vino and will be called as the E-Vino. In terms of design, it gets a purely retro styling with curvy body panels and apron-mounted, circular headlamp and turn indicators. It will get a removable battery for convenience of remote charging. Furthermore, the E-Vino will come with two power modes along with a boost function for easy ascending on inclinations.

With the whole world shifting towards electric mobility, Yamaha too seems to be turning its attention towards environment-friendly transportation.
