Yamaha has launched the new Tracer 9 GT ABS in Japan. The sports tourer motorcycle is based on the new MT-09 and has received changes both in terms of cosmetics as well as mechanicals. The changes include a new suspension setup, revised body structure and styling, a new engine, a new frame, lightweight aluminium wheels and a new Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). The bike is priced at Yen 1,452,000 (Rs 9.72 lakh) and will arrive in Japan on 28 July. While its arrival in the Indian market seems highly unlikely, let's take a look at the details of the new Tracer 9 GT ABS.
Engine
The new Tracer 9 GT ABS draws power from the same 888cc inline three-cylinder water-cooled engine that does duty on the new MT-09. This engine sits in a newly developed lightweight diamond frame and churns out 118bhp at 10,000rpm and 93Nm at 7,000rpm. All this power and torque is taken to its wheels via a six-speed transmission.
Design
The Tracer 9 GT ABS is a sports tourer motorcycle that comes equipped with an additional fairing, a tall windscreen upfront that can be adjusted up to 10-steps, knuckle guards, a cornering lamp, an underbelly exhaust, split seat setup, a stay for the side case and a chunky 18-litre fuel tank. Furthermore, the bike is available in three colour options: Blueish White Metallic 2, Vividred Solid K and Matte Dark Gray Metallic A.
Features
The new Tracer 9 GT ABS features a mono focus twin-lens LED headlamp, redesigned taillamp, four riding modes, cruise control, quick shifter, traction control, slide control, grip warmers, slipper clutch and a new Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). The 3.5-inch coloured double-TFT instrument cluster displays a fuel gauge, average fuel consumption, a water temperature gauge, an outside air temperature gauge, a shift indicator, an ETC card insertion confirmation and a digital bar tachometer that changes colour according to the number of revolutions.
Hardware
The motorcycle employs an electronically controlled suspension KADS (KYB Actimatic Damper System) that uses telescopic forks at the front and a swingarm at the rear. Meanwhile, for braking, it employs a dual disc at the front and a single disc at the rear assisted by ABS. The sports tourer motorcycle runs on 17-inch wheels. These wheels are wrapped in tyres having 120mm width at the front and 180mm width at the rear.
