- Yamaha recalls Tracer 900GT in Malaysia over technical issue
- Motorcycles recalled to replace the front stop switch kit
- Recall notice to be issued by the end of this month
Yamaha Motors is recalling the Tracer 900GT in Malaysia in order to replace the front stop switch kit.
The front stop switch kit is also known as the brake light switch assembly which is attached to the brake pedal mechanism. It carries out two major functions. First, it turns on the brake lights when a driver presses the brake pedal. Second, it sends a signal to the vehicle computer indicating that the brakes are applied. If a switch is bad, the brake lights won't operate.
Yamaha will start issuing notice to the owners of the affected motorcycles by the end of this month. Upon receiving the notice the customers are expected to contact their respective Yamaha authorised dealers for carrying out the replacement of the affected parts. Units that are within the following frame numbers will be recalled to fix the issue :
PMYRN6110K0000101 – 0000620
PMYRN6110L0000621 – 0000900
The Tracer 900GT is an adventure tourer powered by an 847cc liquid-cooled, inline three-cylinder engine that churns out 113.45bhp at 10000rpm and 87.5Nm at 8500rpm. The bike gets features like all LED lights, TFT dash, heated grips, traction control, cruise control and slipper clutch. It is available in the Malaysian market in two colour options: Red and Blue. However, the chances of this bike making it to our shores seems pretty difficult.
