- Yamaha Tracer trademark registered in India
- Might enter via the CBU route
- Already retails in the Asian and European markets
Yamaha has registered a trademark for the Tracer brand in the Indian market. The Japanese manufacturer already retails a flagship sports-tourer in other Asian and European countries under the same name tag. The company might plan to enter the Indian market with a similar product via the CBU route.
The Tracer 900GT in Malaysia is powered by an 847cc liquid-cooled, inline three-cylinder engine that churns out 113.45bhp at 10000rpm and 87.5Nm at 8500rpm. It also comes with features like all LED lights, a TFT instrument cluster, cruise control, three-step traction control, adjustable windscreen and a slipper clutch.
The details related to its design, specifications and features are yet to be known. But, we are expecting the brand to use the same 847cc motor in its BS6 avatar, considering it has also been on duty in the MT09 that was launched in the country in 2018. The company has not disclosed the launch timeline yet. However, upon its arrival in the Indian market, it will compete against the Triumph Tiger 900, Honda Africa Twin, Ducati Multistrada 950, Kawasaki Versys 1000 and the BMW F900XR.
