Yamaha has launched the Tricity 125 and the Tricity 155 at its home ground of Japan. Both three-wheelers get quite an intriguing package and here’s what we know about the duo.
Both the Tricity twins sport the same design and get a center-set LED headlight with LED DRLs above. The setup is topped by a transparent visor that covers the LCD instrument console. Yamaha has equipped the Tricity 125 and 155 with a scooped single seat and side panel integrated grab rail. The overall design seems quite hefty with a dash of sportiness.
Powering the smaller model is a 125cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor with the output rated at 12.06bhp and 11.2Nm. Meanwhile, the Tricity 155 uses the same engine as the current R15 V4. It’s a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor with VVA, making 14.88bhp and 14Nm. For reference, the R15 makes 18.1 bhp. This means the Tricity 155’s motor has been detuned to suit the scooter's purpose. Both models benefit from an auto stop/start system.
Both models get LED illumination, keyless operation, and a smartphone-compatible console on the feature front. Both ride on telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks while the braking hardware comprises front and rear disc brakes mounted on 14-inch front alloys and a 13-inch rear unit.
In Japan, the Yamaha Tricity 125 is priced at JPY 4,95,000 (approximately Rs 3.10 lakh sans taxes), and the 155cc variant costs JPY 5,56,500 (approximately Rs 3.54 lakh sans taxes). Both models are notably pricey and won’t be launched in India anytime soon.
