- The Tricity scooters get updates
- Equipped with an upgraded engine
- Gets MyRide app
Yamaha has given major upgrades to its famous three-wheeler scooter brand – the Tricity. The company has upgraded the Tricity 125 as well as the Tricity 155.
Both the scooters get major performance changes. The 125cc version gets a new Euro 5 compliant engine that churns out 12.1bhp whereas the 155cc model gets 3bhp more at 15bhp. To make these engines Euro 5 compliant, the Japanese brand has used a forged piston, and a newly designed cylinder head and also gave it a large intake valve along with an increased compression ratio. These changes have also helped it churn out better performance and is also more fuel-efficient.
A lot has been done to the chassis too. The wheelbase is 60mm longer to provide better comfort and balance. Due to the revision in the frame, the rear shock has been lengthened to give more 90mm of travel. The brakes have been updated to provide a better feel and bite. The footboard has also been increased and the headlight beam has been broadened. In terms of tech, the scooters are now equipped with the MyRide app that could be used for tracking various details of the scooters along with the ride data.
The new Yamaha Tricity 125 will go on sale this August whereas its bigger sibling will be launched in September. Sadly, these scooters will never make it to India due to the additional wheel.
