- XSR 155 shown in Yamaha India’s promotional video
- One of the most talked-about bikes in India
- A modern alternative to the Royal Enfield Hunter 350
Yamaha India has released a social media post promoting its ‘The Call of the Blue’ campaign. The promotional video shows a bunch of products that are expected to arrive on our shores. Interestingly, the profoundly popular XSR 155 is also a part of this video which might be a hint of its imminent India arrival.
Although it never went on sale in India, the Yamaha XSR 155 has been one of the most talked-about small bikes in our country. What makes it special is that it is based on the same platform as the R15 and MT 15 including the engine and most of the chassis components. However, it boasts a modern-classic design which is liked by the majority. The XSR 155 was expected to land on the Indian shores much earlier, when Yamaha launched the India-specific FZ X.
Now, Yamaha is planning to bring in a host of international models to India, including the MT 09 which we recently rode in Japan. Yamaha’s promotional video also includes the MT-07, R7, and Tenere 700 all of which are under consideration for India. While the XSR 155 being a part of the same video could be a hint at its India launch, we didn’t receive any confirmation on the same from Yamaha after reaching out to them.
If the Yamaha XSR 155 makes its India debut and is priced well, it could be a strong alternative to the likes of the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and TVS Ronin.
