- XSR 155 India launch expected towards the end of 2025
- Could be priced higher than the MT 15 V2
- MT-09 and YZF-R7 might also arrive on our shores
Many Indian motorcycle enthusiasts have been waiting for the Yamaha XSR 155 to come to our shores for a long time now. They might have a reason to rejoice as the company is considering bringing the XSR 155 to India towards the end of 2025.
Looking at the incredible demand for the XSR 155, the Japanese brand introduced its Indiansed version, the FZ X, in June 2021. However, this FZ FI-based offering never really set the sales chart on fire owing to its lower performance and desirability as compared to the XSR 155 which is based on the more capable and performance-oriented R15. Now, Yamaha might finally be ready to cater to the demand and bring the XSR 155 to India as a part of its portfolio restructuring which may also include launching some big bikes like the YZF-R7 and MT-09.
The XSR 155 boasts a very likeable neo-retro design which is inspired by its bigger XSR siblings. Built around the Deltabox frame, it is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve engine that produces 18.1bhp and 14.2Nm. This motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox along with an assist and slipper clutch. The hardware package comprises 17-inch wheels, USD forks, a monoshock, and a single disc brake at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
Just like the Yamaha R15 V4 and MT 15 V2, the XSR 155 will be manufactured in India. On the pricing front, it might be positioned above the MT 15 which starts from Rs. 1.69 lakh, ex-showroom.
