- Yamaha may be developing XSR GP
- Café racer version of XSR 900
- Likely to be unveiled this year
Yamaha is rumoured to expand its XSR 900 retro line-up by bringing in a café racer motorcycle that will have a performance market positioning.
According to a report, the Japanese brand could launch a café racer that is based on the XSR 900 roadster. This motorcycle is likely to be called the XSR GP and will have a full fairing and round headlamp. The brand had registered this name a few months ago and that just adds more to the speculation.
The XSR GP will also get the power from the same 899cc inline-triple engine that is seen on the MT-09. This motor makes 117bhp and 93.5Nm of peak torque. Other cycle parts like suspension, brakes, and wheels will also be borrowed from the roadster cousin.
We can expect Yamaha to unveil this new motorcycle later this year or maybe at the 2022 EICMA Show in Italy. This Japanese brand usually makes motorcycles with aggressive styling but expecting the XSR GP to look more balanced and sporty.
