- YZF-R9 trademarked in India
- Global unveil soon
- Might not be officially available in India
Yamaha has decided to register the name of the soon-to-be launched motorcycle – the YZF-R9 in India. This makes us believe that the global unveil of this bike is around the corner.
As of now, there are no concrete information on the YZF-R9. In fact, there aren’t even any spy pictures, but yes, the bike is definitely happening. This motorcycle is likely to be based on the MT-09. The Japanese brand used the same approach for the YZF-R7. This fully-faired motorcycle was developed around MT-07’s chassis and engine.
In terms of styling, the R9 is likely to sport an aggressive styling. It could resemble the R7 but the body panels will be larger and sharper. In fact, the aesthetics could get as close to the R1. When it comes to electronics, we can expect multiple riding modes and traction control system.
Even though it has been trademarked in India, we don’t think Yamaha would launch the YZF-R9 in India anytime soon. The company has clearly said they would focus on mass market and entry-level premium bikes for a while.
