- Tracer 7 and GT get hardware updates
- Tracer 9 GT Plus packs new software and updated suspension
- India launch unlikely
Yamaha has taken the veils off its updated ADV range: Tracer 7/7 GT, Tracer 9GT Plus and Niken GT. The entire range has witnessed significant improvements over its past iterations.
For starters, Yamaha has updated the Tracer 7 and 7GT with a new fully adjustable suspension. This should make both trims much more usable for riders since they can set up the springs as per their needs. The braking software has also been tweaked and it now gets a larger disc of 298mm. The Tracer 7 also gets a new TFT screen with smartphone connectivity, giving access to SMS and call notifications.
On the other hand, the Tracer 9 GT Plus is now equipped with KYB electronically controlled semi-active suspension. It also benefits from radar-linked front and rear braking, cruise control, and a full TFT dash with smartphone connectivity and Garmin navigation.
The Niken GT has received the most significant change and is now powered by an 890cc three-cylinder motor with the output rated at 113.3bhp and 90.7Nm. Yamaha has employed a similar update for the Triken as the Tracer. So the trike now gets a full TFT display with Garmin navigation, revised suspension, adjustable windscreen and more.
While the aforementioned models have received notable changes, neither of them are headed to the Indian market anytime soon. So, the only options for large ADVs available in the market are from Triumph, Ducati, BMW and Harley-Davidson.
